Natural Lip Fillers

“Her lips look like sausages!”

“I hate duck lips!”

“Eurgh, lip fillers give you trout pout!”

“Why do they have to mess with their faces!”

“Omg there is so much botox in her lips!”

And it goes on!

There is so much misinformation about lip and dermal fillers – and SO many bad fillers! When people think of fillers, most people firstly think of lips, and then think of the Love Island chipmunk cheeks that have given fillers such a bad name over the years! The media has a lot to answer for here – and this distortion of features has led to some very strange trends and, consequently, some very odd looks!

Young women and girls are the most likely to be influenced, but fortunately, the trend for overdone lip and facial fillers is starting to subside, with many ‘big’ names (if you watch the likes of Love Island!) admitting to having their overdone fillers dissolved.

I am hoping this trend completely goes away!!

If you know me, you will know that I am very anti-sausage lips… no duck lips or trout pouts will leave my clinic, and if that is what you want, you would be better off finding someone else who likes that look! I’m all for a bit of volume and plumpness where it is appropriate and complements someone’s features, but I absolutely refuse to over-fill or create strange unnatural looks. There are plenty out there who will happily take your money, but I’m not one of them.

So what are natural lip fillers? Generally, you shouldn’t be able to tell that someone has them – lips should look full but not like they are about to burst, plump without being stretched tight, and shapely rather than sausagey..…

I aim to apply lip fillers to complement the existing shape of someone’s lip – you are not going to be able to change that shape fundamentally, and trying to put Kim Kardashian’s lips on Jennifer Aniston, for example, is just not going to work.

Natural lip fillers also allow for natural symmetry – or, more importantly, asymmetry. We all have some asymmetry, and some have more obvious differences than others. Lip fillers can be really useful for adjusting some types of asymmetry in lips, although it should be taken into account that lip fillers can actually make an asymmetry more apparent (rather than making it worse), purely down to the shape and structure of the lips.

Natural lip fillers are only achieved when the practitioner takes all of these factors into consideration and also makes sure they use the right product for the client – there are a variety of types and brands of fillers, all designed to do slightly different things – picking the right one for the client is vital.

It’s also not about the ‘ml’!! I get asked for a certain number of mls, or get asked to advise how many mls someone is going to need – and actually, that is impossible to answer. I treat very much to the result, not to the ‘ml’. In some people, I can inject one ml of filler and still find that I need more to get the desired results, and with others, I use a half ml of filler and get a dramatic difference! Every client and every filler is different!

To get a natural result with lip fillers, take the advice that is given, and trust me to do a great job for you!
